The Space Society of Kenya (SSK) is a dynamic, non-profit space research and outreach organization committed to advancing space science, technology and education across Kenya and the African continent. The Space Society of Kenya is led by a diverse group of individuals, each driven by a passion for space science , technology and innovation. Meet our team here:
Bram is the Founder and Director of the Space Society of Kenya (SSK). He holds a degree in Astrophysics and is deeply committed to advancing space science, education and innovation across Kenya and beyond. Through SSK, Bram leads efforts to build a vibrant space community, foster youth engagement, and position Kenya as a key player in the global space sector.
Lee Wahome is an aerospace engineering student and a multidisciplinary innovator deeply invested in the future of humanity as a spacefaring species. He plays a role in driving space advocacy, education, and grassroots innovation across Kenya. With a special interest in propulsion systems, space habitats, and collective intelligence, Lee blends engineering with philosophy, martial arts, and systems thinking to reimagine how we explore and understand the cosmos.
Darlyn is a finance graduate with a strong interest in the intersection of finance, science and technology. As the Finance Lead of the Space Society of Kenya, she handles financial planning and resource management to support the society’s mission of advancing space education and innovation. She brings experience in budgeting and strategic decision making to ensure transparency and long term sustainability in operations. Her passion lies in applying financial stewardship to empower scientific progress and inspire the next generation of space enthusiasts.
Ben founded Digital Economy Advisors in 2024, as an established and awarded industry leader in the sphere of building and scaling digital infrastructure across Africa, with a vision to continue to Accelerate the Growth of Africa’s Digital Economy. With over 20 years of experience as the Group Chief Technology and Innovation Officer at Liquid Intelligent Technologies, the leading communications solutions provider across Africa, he oversaw the company’s technology strategy and operations and drove innovation to deliver cutting-edge services to customers. Additionally, Ben led the integration and business transformation as CEO of Liquid Telecom Kenya from 2013 to 2017 and thereafter served as board chairman of the company, as well as serving for over 10 years as a director of TEAMs Ltd and WIOCC Group, both subsea cable network operators. Before joining Liquid, Ben was responsible for electronics design and satellite systems at Ericsson UK Limited. He also worked with Lotus Cars, the British sports car manufacturer, as an engineer. Ben holds a BSc Hons Physics from the University of Bristol in the UK. Ben is passionate about STEM education and how it can be enabled by ICT and is Chair of the Board of Directors of Young Scientists Kenya (YSK).
Hadassa is passionate about using design and digital media to inspire interest in space science. As the Graphic Designer and Social Media Manager for the Space Society of Kenya, she creates engaging content that connects the public with the cosmos. She is also an Astronomy and Astrophysics student at UoN.
Bastian is a technology leader with roles including Fractional CIO at Fargo Group, Kenya and Co-founder & CTO of UTU Technologies, where he heads technological work including in AI, blockchain, software engineering and IT. With over 20 years of experience in distributed AI, multi-agent systems, trust algorithms, and transportation tech, his background includes senior roles at IVU Traffic Technologies and research at the German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI). He holds a Ph.D. from Saarland University for his work on agent negotiation in uncertain environments. Beyond his tech roles, Dr. Blankenburg is an amateur astronomer (night.ke), Head of Instruments for the Space Society of Kenya, and an active member of DarkSky Kenya.
Wonder is a final-year Astrophysics student at the University of Nairobi, passionate about space science and public outreach. With a strong interest in community engagement, she serves as the Event Coordinator for the Space Society of Kenya, eager to lead and organize initiatives that inspire the next generation of sky-watchers and space enthusiasts.
Jelimo is a space enthusiast passionate about space outreach and education. Currently working as a web developer and designer, they lead the IT department of the Space Society of Kenya.
